Skills matrices rarely fail on concept — they fail on upkeep. The spreadsheet is six months out of date because nobody maintains it. That’s the problem conlud addresses.

You define how qualifications are measured: grades, percentages or a scale of your own. Skills can be arranged in levels and groups that match your organisation — by department, by plant, by certification standard.

Weighting lets individual qualifications count differently towards a combined figure, so you can answer questions like whether a team covers the requirements of a given role or whether something is missing.

The data stays current because employees contribute to it. Through the self-service portal they request a change to a qualification and upload the supporting document with it. The request goes through an approval workflow and only takes effect once reviewed. Certificates then sit on the employee record — no folder hunting when an audit comes round.

Where a qualification is missing, you link it to a training measure. Once that’s completed, the reassessment is due.

There will be something to see here in the next few days.
